Building Momentum, Reflecting on a Year of Growth

As the year comes to a close, Omni Commercial Group is proud to look back on twelve months of progress, partnership, and purpose. Each year brings new opportunities to strengthen our relationships, elevate our craft, and reinforce the core values that have guided us since 1985. This year was no exception. From expanding our portfolio of commercial projects to deepening connections with our clients and partners, 2025 has been a year defined by momentum—momentum built not only through what we constructed, but through the people who made it possible.

At Omni, growth is measured not just in square footage or project counts, but in the trust we earn, the challenges we overcome, and the communities we serve. As we reflect on this past year, we are grateful for every team member, partner, and client who helped us bring visions to life across Chicagoland.

A Year Marked by Collaboration and Milestones

This year, Omni continued our mission to deliver high-quality commercial construction driven by communication, precision, and accountability. As a union-affiliated, woman-owned firm, collaboration is woven into the fabric of everything we do. Our success depends not only on our expertise but on the strength of the relationships we build—something we have continued to prioritize, cultivate, and honor throughout 2025.

One of the most meaningful milestones of the year was being named by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the Top 25 Women-Owned Businesses in the Chicago Area. This recognition highlights our nearly four decades of hard work and reinforces the values that define our company: integrity, teamwork, and trust.

But beyond this recognition, it is the work itself—and the people behind it—that truly made this year exceptional.

Project Highlight: Pickleball Courts at 150 N Martingale Road, Schaumburg, IL

One of the year’s standout achievements was the completion of the brand-new Pickleball Courts at 150 N Martingale Road in Schaumburg. Omni Commercial Group served as the General Contractor, collaborating closely with JLL, the building’s management team.

This project is a prime example of how thoughtful construction can enhance a commercial building’s amenities and support the wellbeing of its tenants. Transforming an indoor space into a high-quality pickleball court environment required careful planning, material selection, and execution to ensure durability, safety, and aesthetics. From flooring to lighting to spatial layout, every detail was crafted to deliver a fun, engaging, and functional amenity that adds value to the building and enhances the tenant experience.

This project represents the type of work we love—unique, community-centric, and built with purpose. Our team is proud to have delivered a space that encourages an active lifestyle and fosters connection among tenants.

Project Highlight: 540 West Madison – Tech Connect Space

Another major accomplishment this year was the Tech Connect Space at 540 West Madison in Chicago, where Omni Commercial Group served as the Carpentry Contractor, partnering with Bancare, the project’s General Contractor.

This transformative project included:

  • Greeter Space – Front of House
  • Fix and Build Area – Back of House
  • Front Signage and Branding Elements

This project required seamless coordination and a deep understanding of how people interact with technology-focused service environments. As the Carpentry Contractor, Omni played a key role in bringing the architectural and functional elements of the space to life — from precision finish carpentry to structural details that elevate both design and usability.

The Greeter Space was crafted to be clean, modern, and welcoming, reflecting the professional identity of the building and reinforcing the tenant experience.

The Fix and Build Area demanded technical accuracy to support equipment service workflows and meet operational requirements without sacrificing safety or efficiency.

Finally, Omni’s work contributed to the installation and integration of
front signage and branding elements, completing the space with a polished, cohesive look.

This project demonstrates Omni’s ability to collaborate seamlessly with general contractors like Bancare and deliver specialized carpentry that enhances both aesthetics and functionality.

Partnerships That Strengthen Every Project

One of the greatest drivers of momentum this year has been our network of partners. From subcontractors and suppliers to general contractors and property managers, every collaboration contributes to our success. These partnerships are built on mutual respect, accountability, and shared commitment to quality—values we consider the foundation of our work.

Omni is especially grateful for partners who consistently go above and beyond to support fast timelines, complex builds, and evolving project needs. Together, we created spaces that serve clients, communities, and businesses across Chicagoland.

Our Team: The Heart of Our Success

From the field crews who keep our jobsites safe to the project managers who coordinate every detail, our team is the heartbeat of Omni. Many of our employees have been with us for over a decade—a rarity in our industry and a testament to the culture we’ve built.

Their dedication, craftsmanship, and commitment to communication are the reasons clients continue to trust Omni with their most important projects. This year, our team tackled complex builds, delivered innovative solutions, and demonstrated leadership on and off the jobsite.

They are the momentum behind every milestone, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Looking Ahead: Building the Future, Together

As we prepare for a new year, Omni remains focused on strengthening relationships, enhancing our process, and continuing to deliver exceptional construction experiences. Our commitment to communication, safety, and integrity continues to guide us—and with every project, we are building not just structures, but long-term partnerships.

Whether planning a renovation, tenant build-out, or new amenity space, Omni is ready to help bring your vision to life in 2026.

The ROI of Early Planning: How Preconstruction Saves Time and Money
April 23, 2026
In commercial construction, the most critical decisions are made long before construction begins. Preconstruction is where timelines are defined, budgets are established, and risks are minimized. When done right, it sets the foundation for a smooth, efficient project. When rushed or overlooked, it can lead to delays, unexpected costs, and avoidable challenges. For property owners and developers, early planning isn’t just a step, it is a strategic advantage. What is Preconstruction? Preconstruction is the planning phase of a commercial construction project that takes place before breaking ground. It includes budgeting, scheduling, design construction, material selection, and risk evaluation. The goal is simple. Identify potential issues early and make informed decisions when they are easier and more cost effective to address. Cost Control Starts Upfront The most effective way to control project costs isn’t during construction, it is before it begins. Accurate Budgeting Detailed estimates based on current market conditions help eliminate surprises and keep projects aligned with financial expectations. Value Engineering Exploring alternative materials and methos early allows teams to reduce costs without compromising quality or performance. Fewer Change Orders Finalizing key decisions upfront minimizes mid-project changes, one of the leading causes of budget overruns. Preventing Delays Before They Happen Time lost during construction often translates directly into lost revenue. Preconstruction helps keep projects on schedule. A well-developed timeline accounts for permitting, procurement, and labor. Reducing disruptions once construction begins. Addressing permit requirements early helps avoid approval delays that can stall progress. Implementing proactive coordination will resolve design conflicts and site challenges ahead of time leading to smoother execution in the field. Stronger Collaboration, Better Results Successful projects depend on alignment from the start. Preconstruction brings key stakeholders together early to streamline communication and decision-making. Clear expectations start with collaboration to ensure alignment on scope, budget, and timeline. Contractor input during the design phase helps create plans that are both practical and cost-effective. A coordinated approach reduces miscommunication and keeps projects moving efficiently. Reducing Risk, Protection Your Investment Every project carries risk, but early planning helps control it. Evaluating site conditions, logistics, and constraints allows teams to plan instead of reacting later. To manage material cost, early procurement strategies help mitigate price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions. Omni Commercial Group ensures compliance and safety by implementing safety into our culture. By addressing regulations and safety considerations upfront reduces the likelihood of costly setbacks. The Bottom Line Preconstruction is one of the most effective ways to improve project outcomes. By investing in early planning, property owners can: Control costs Reduce delays Improve efficiency Maximize long term value In today’s market, where timing and budgets are critical, a proactive approach isn’t optional, it’s essential. Building Smarter from the Start At Omni Commercial Group, every project begins with a clear, strategic plan. Our preconstruction process is designed to eliminate uncertainty, improve efficiency, and deliver consistent, reliable results. Whether you’re planning a renovation , tenant improvement , or new construction project , the right planning makes all the difference. At Omni Commercial Group, we take great pride in the work we do—but there's something uniquely special about projects that take place right in our own backyard. In the summer of 2024, we had the privilege of partnering with Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois, to revitalize one of the most important spaces in their building: the auditorium. This project wasn’t just about construction, it was about creating an environment that uplifts performance, accessibility, and experience for students, staff, and the greater Elgin community. A Complete Auditorium Transformation The renovation touched nearly every aspect of the auditorium. Our scope of work included: Brand-new auditorium seating Durable and attractive epoxy flooring Upgraded carpeting for comfort and aesthetics ADA-compliant access ramp to improve accessibility Modernized auditorium electrical systems Upgraded house lighting to improve visibility and efficiency New electronic theatrical lighting control systems A completely overhauled audio system with new controls and speaker arrays Installation of a new 25-foot video screen and projection equipment The project was completed in August 2024, just in time for a new school year and performance season. Real Results That Resonate We were honored to receive glowing feedback from Adam Baxter, Auditorium Manager at Larkin High School, after the system upgrades were put to the test during their musical production. His message underscores exactly why we do what we do. “We're running our musical this weekend and the vocals are loud and clear in a way we've never been able to hear when competing with a full pit orchestra,” Adam shared. “Threshold took my notes about the challenges and limitations of the room and gave us a design that was exactly what this space needed.” Adam went on to praise the improvements made to the seating, lighting, projection, and infrastructure—areas that had long needed attention. But it was the new audio system that made the biggest difference for their performances. “The old speaker system was good for meetings and music playback but trying to get performer vocal mics louder than a full pit orchestra, jazz band, or rock show was full of challenges,” he noted. “This new system has been plenty loud with headroom to spare.” He closed his remarks with appreciation not just for the outcome, but for the collaborative approach Omni took throughout the process. “I really appreciate being able to contribute in the process… Feel free to pass along thanks to Mark Carlson, Threshold, Omni, and anyone else involved.” Collaboration in Action One of the key reasons this project succeeded so well was the collaborative effort between the Larkin team, Threshold, and our crew at Omni. We believe construction is most effective when it's grounded in communication—when every stakeholder has a voice and every challenge is met with creative, technical solutions. We’re especially proud of how our team listened to and integrated feedback from those who know the space best—like Adam. His insights were crucial to creating a performance-ready environment that truly met the school’s unique needs. Building for Our Community As a union-affiliated , woman-owned business headquartered in Elgin, working on a project like this for Larkin High School holds personal meaning. It’s more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to invest in the future of our own community and create spaces that serve, inspire, and elevate. At Omni Commercial Group , we’re passionate about building better environments. Whether it’s an auditorium, office space, retail location, or public facility, our commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and communication remains at the heart of everything we do. Let’s Build What Matters—Together Have a community, commercial, or educational facility that needs a refresh ? We’re ready to bring your vision to life—just like we did for Larkin .

Summer is here—and with it comes the busiest construction season of the year. While warm weather offers ideal conditions for building, it also brings unique challenges that can disrupt schedules and drive up costs. At Omni Commercial Group, we understand how to navigate these summer hurdles to keep your project moving forward, on time and on budget. Here’s what you need to know about managing commercial construction during peak season—and how Omni’s expertise and proactive approach can help your project thrive. Why Summer Brings Unique Construction Challenges Summer might seem like the perfect time to build, but it also creates intense demand for labor, materials, and equipment. This surge often leads to labor shortages, as skilled crews are in high demand across multiple projects. Finding and securing experienced labor becomes much harder during the busy summer months, making early planning critical. Material delays are another common challenge. Suppliers often experience backlogs and longer lead times, slowing down delivery schedules and increasing costs. Even small delays in material shipments can have a cascading impact on project timelines, pushing schedules off course and leading to costly change orders. While summer weather is generally favorable, sudden storms and extreme heat can impact job sites and strain crews. High temperatures require careful scheduling and safety measures to protect workers and maintain productivity. Key Strategies to Keep Projects on Track The key to successful summer construction lies in proactive planning, strong relationships, and clear communication. Starting early with project planning and scheduling can make all the difference. Securing crews and establishing a realistic timeline before summer arrives helps avoid the scramble for resources once the season begins. At Omni, our decades of experience in the Chicagoland market allow us to anticipate these seasonal demands and plan accordingly. Material procurement should also happen as early as possible. Ordering materials ahead of time helps minimize the risk of delays and price fluctuations. At Omni, we leverage long-standing relationships with suppliers to ensure that materials arrive on time and at competitive costs, even during the busiest months. Communication is another critical factor. Our use of advanced project management tools like Procore, combined with our proven OmniCPM methodology, keeps all stakeholders aligned. From real-time updates on progress to swift issue resolution, these tools ensure that no detail is overlooked and that any potential problems are addressed before they can impact the schedule. Finally, safety and productivity go hand in hand, especially during the summer. High temperatures can push crews to their limits, so we prioritize safety training and hydration protocols, ensuring that everyone stays healthy and focused on quality work. How Omni Keeps Projects Moving Forward For nearly four decades, Omni Commercial Group has delivered projects during the peak summer construction season without missing a beat. Our team includes union-trained carpenters, laborers, and project managers who know how to navigate the challenges of summer construction while maintaining high standards for safety and quality. Our leadership team has deep experience handling the complexities of summer construction—balancing tight schedules, budget constraints, and changing site conditions. We tailor every project plan to meet client goals and ensure that no detail is overlooked. What sets Omni apart is our commitment to collaboration and communication. We work closely with owners, architects, and trade partners to maintain momentum and protect your investment. Whether it’s a small remodel or a large-scale expansion, we bring the same dedication to keeping your project on time and on budget, even during the busiest building season.
